Determining if you need a total roof replacement or just a simple repair can be overwhelming!  These are the most commonly asked Questions and Answers that can help you.

Questions and Answers

1) How can you tell if your roof needs to be replaced?

Typically, you need to have your roof inspected by a qualified roofer. Visual clues include missing shingles, granule loss, or a leak inside your home.

2) How do you know if your roofing contractor is legitimate?

The questions to research include: do their installers have the highest recognized achievement rating from the shingle manufacturer, for example, a CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator or Wizard; are they licensed in your municipality if required;  are they local; do they have proper insurance; how are their reviews; and are they accredited with the Better Business Bureau.

3) What is the best type of roof for my house?

A good roof is a 25 year, 3 tab shingle. A better roof is a 30 year, laminated shingle. The best roof is a 50 year IR (impact resistant) or Designer shingle.

4) If my roof leaks do I need a whole new roof?

Not necessarily. Most leaks come from around vents, valleys, or around a chimney. A roof inspection should be able to determine if a repair or replacement is needed. APEX Roofing does free inspections.

5) How long do roofs last? My roof is relatively old but seems fine.

Depending on the type of shingle and proper attic ventilation, a roof can last between 15-30 years.

6) How long does it take to replace a roof?

Factors involved in roof replacement time include the size of the roof, number of stories, steepness/slope, complicated roof angles, and size of the crew. Typically, it takes between 1-3 days.

7) What is the cost of a new roof?

The cost of a roof varies depending on the size and quality of the shingle chosen.

8) Is a building permit required for my project and, if so, will you be pulling one or do I as a homeowner?

Most municipalities require a building permit. Once contracted, your roofing project manager will file for appropriate permits.

9) Do I need to consult my Homeowner Association (HOA) before my new roof is installed?

Each HOA is different. It is wise to check with your HOA BEFORE deciding on the type and color of your new roof.

10) Will you provide me written warranties both for your workmanship and the product you will be installing? When?

Workmanship warranty is provided, and product warranties are automatic with proof of purchase and typically do not need to be registered.

11) My roof looks fine after the last hail storm from the ground. Why should I schedule a free inspection if it looks fine?

Hailstone impacts can be subtle after the initial storm, but over time, heat and other types of storms (like high winds) can deteriorate your shingles.

12) I found out I need a brand new roof which is expensive and I cannot pay cash. Is there a financing option for me you offer?

APEX Roofing offers home improvement financing with approved credit through Wells Fargo who will walk you through their credit application process. Click here to go to our Wells Fargo financing page.

13) Do you warranty your roof repair work?
